Signs it is not working

  • Your child dreads or avoids lessons.
  • Homework is not getting easier.
  • The tutor’s style or pace does not suit how your child learns.

Talk to your child first

Ask what they like and dislike about the lessons. Their answer often points to something fixable.

Raise it with the tutor

Share what you have noticed, politely and specifically. Many tutors will happily adjust their approach.

Decide whether to move on

If little changes after a fair try, finding a different tutor is reasonable. Personality and teaching style matter as much as qualifications.

Make the next match better

Use a trial lesson, say clearly what went wrong last time, and agree a goal so you can judge the new tutor sooner.
